Day 2 began with a ride on the tube to the Tower of London.
Guards stand to protect the crown jewels.
There is so much history there. Incredible. Dave and I will re-visit this and catch anything I missed.
Ravens are a part of the history too.
This was in the gift shop....
Queen Chele!
A great view from the Tower of London is the
Tower Bridge and The River Thames
Next..
Sherlock Holmes' place...221B Baker St.
Next...Selfridges
I loved the series "Mr. Selfridge" on PBS.
It was based on the true story of an
American who began the
high end department store in 1908.

This was the actual store.
We even went inside and did a little shopping. Very little. Lipstick. The store was beautiful
and their window displays were incredible.
Day 3 began with a 1 1/2 hr bus ride to the countryside to near Hampshire where
Florence Nightingale grew up.
The home and grounds were beautiful.
This 130 acre estate is a now
a boarding college prep school.
It even has some resemblance to Hogwarts.
Secret doors and passage way.
For Real!!!

Next lunch and some yummy latte
On to the small countryside
church where she is buried.
It is still an active church...
with a vicar...very English
The door to the chapel is dates back 800 years.
These are the items that hung over her bed.
I like the scripture.
She was invited to be buried at
Westminster Abbey but she declined. Florence Nightingale wanted to be buried alongside her parents and sister. She also requested that only F.N. be placed on her stone.

It was a powerful day. Learning so much.
