Day 18 : Edinburgh- Day 7 : 2nd Honeymoon

Edinburgh Scotland is beautiful. Breathtakingly Beautiful and we haven't even gone to the countryside. The history is amazing. Like London, many buildings and monuments have with stood battles, wars, natural disasters and time-hundreds of years of time. The people are very kind and I love their accent.
We began our 2nd day with the "hop on hop off" bus tour. This one only takes 1 hour to complete. The streets are narrow but everything is a bit slower here. I like it.

This is not just a hill, it is on top of an inactive volcano and it's name is "Arthur's Seat". It dates back to the 12th century and some believe it to be the site of Camelot. There is a legend, that if a young girl climbs to the top at sunrise and wipes the morning dew on her face, she will be forever beautiful.

Can't get enough of the castle!

In the 1600's Edinburgh had 30,000 people living in 1 square mile. Very crowded. To deal with that, buildings were VERY close to each other.
The space (or walkway) in between them
were called "closes".
They were named after people of high standing.

This was carved above a door in 1390!

A little heat wave yesterday and today for Edinburgh. Today-82 degrees and sunny. No air conditioning in most places. We found this tavern and went in for a cold brew.

St. Giles Cathedral. Located in between the castle and Holyrood Palace on the Royal Mile.

There is a city under the city
called "Mary King's Close".  No pictures allowed but we went on the tour. Very interesting history. Google it :)

Our day ended with a nice dinner at our hotel restaurant-with air conditioning.
Great food and even better desserts!
