Day 13 London- 2nd Honeymoon Day 2

We rode the "hop on hop off" bus to
Buckingham Palace.

These are the gates to the castle gardens.

The fountain in front has this beautiful and very large statue on top. It was a gift to Queen Victoria and her likeness on the this side.

Another beautiful sunny day and as we were walking back to the bus stop, we heard someone calling...Hey Texas biker....Hey Texas biker. I realized Dave had his Luckenbach Tx Harley Davidson shirt on so we turned around and an Englishman just wanted to say Hello Chap!
We got back on the bus to go to the Tower of London. We were told there was a very large protest near Parliament (concerning the exit of Britain from their union) and there was a detour to the route. We thought no problem, however it was horrible traffic. The bus driver suggested we get off the bus and take the underground. However, his directions ended up sending us very near the protest. YIKES! When we saw this we knew we needed to make another detour. An armed officer helped us and we finally made it to the Tower!

The Tower of London is amazing. I saw and learned even more this time.

I love the White Tower

It was began by William the Conqueror
in 1087! Walls 10ft thick.
Very good history, you should google it :)

It is the armory

St. John's Chapel. Henry III had the stained glass added in 1250. I find that amazing. Beautiful

Where royalty was executed. ex: Anne Boleyn
This very spot! All other executions were done across the street at Tower Hill.
Cameras were not allowed but we did see the crown jewels. Many crowns actually worn. Sceptres and the gold spoon that the holy water is put in to anoint the Kind or Queen.
After the interesting history of the day, we headed to our hotel. From our underground "home" stop of Lancaster Gate, we pass this pub on the way to our hotel. About a 2 block walk. This time we stopped in for dinner and a drink.

Then a stroll through Hyde Park
