Day 22: Dublin / Day 10 : 2nd Honeymoon

We are loving the "hop on hop off" bus tours.
Our first day, we take the entire tour and then decide what we want to see.

Dublin is filled with beautiful flowers.

And vined buildings.

Our first destination was the Harley-Davidson store. This store was very small and actually only sold retail things. We navigated right to it.

Dublin Ireland Harley Store.....check.

We were in the heart of Dublin in an area called
"Temple Bar". Small cobblestone streets with pubs and shops.

The statue of Molly Malone. A fictional character linked to a sad sweet song. The singer at the hotel sang it our first night.

A street artist doing a beautiful job.

Back on the bus we passed many historical sights.

The Dublin Castle...the real one-not our hotel:)

Built in the early 1300s on the site of
a Viking village.

St. Ann's Cathedral. This is where Bram Stoker attended church and was married.

St. Patrick's Cathedral

The ship "Jeanie Johnson".
This small ship that took many immigrants from the famine to new countries. By today's standards, it would hold 40 passengers, but during the famine it took 140 passengers each trip.
The Irish Immigration Museum is next to the ship. During our visit there, I found some ancestry information. The McGathery family, which is on my mother's side, was from Northern Ireland.  David McGathery immigrated in the early 1700s, from a protestant area, to South Carolina.

The harp is the national symbol of Ireland.
This bridge was built in its honor.

Ireland's equal to the White House.
Michael Higgins is their current President.

Another government building with beautiful architecture.

At the end of the day...dinner....

Dublin Ireland
Hard Rock Cafe guitar pin....check
