Weekend Fun

A 3h hour drive southeast and we have arrived to visit Paula Jo. Dave's #2 sister is his only sibling living in Texas so we enjoy many visits together. For me, this is extra special since I have no natural sisters. My 1 brother, to Dave's 4 siblings, is a world of difference.
What a blessing they are in my life.
Paula continues to amaze me with her hospitality. Her knowledge, kindness and sharing attitude is a treasure. This trip she shared a sweet spot,
Messina Hof Winery.

Sunday brunch was incredibly delicious. Dave had table side french toast-cinnamon raisin bread topped with a mascarpone cream and Angel, Late Harvest Riesling.
Served with a flambĂ© of banana.
Paula and I chose the eggs benedict.

Everything was beautiful.
The food and service was incredible

While we waited for our tour of the winery, Paula took us on a drive. We visited her old neighborhood and saw this. A young white tail doe in a beautiful field of Mexican Hats.
Both native of Texas.

The winery tour was the best I've been on. Very informative and entertaining. Not to mention, all 4 wines we sampled were very tasty. As a novice wine drinker, I prefer sweet red. As veteran wine drinkers (would that be a wino? LOL), Dave and Paula enjoy dry. But we all found common ground on the dessert wine, called Port.
We bought a bottle and that
evening had the wine over
Blue Bell vanilla ice cream.
What A Treat!!

The rest of the weekend we enjoyed playing cards and helping Paula with her "to do list".
One item was fixing and getting
her beloved bird feeder back in use.

The weekend ended with my dentist appointment Monday morning. My least favorite thing to do. However, all went well and I will save all of that for a later post. Much Later. Maybe July.  :)

3 Knights on the Road

Our trip began early in the morning with 1,100 miles and 7 days of adventure ahead of us!

We switched drivers along the way

and talked....a lot! Cousins can do that.
So much beauty was seen along the way.

Yes, I find windmills where ever I go :)

We found new friends and the Petrified Forest!

And even a fun place called "Geronimo"!

We traveled along this historic route

We got our kicks...on Route 66

Then our first stop was reached.
A sleepover....

And the first casino!

 Day 2 about 5pm...
we reached our final destination!

We stayed in a castle (Excalibur)

Complete with fire breathing dragons, kings
and a sweet little princess.

My cousin's youngest daughter lives there and the scary looking dragon man is her husband.
He is an amazing man. The little princess is their daughter who was celebrating her 1st birthday during our visit. What a bonus!

Casinos were so much fun! I guess I can say that because I went home with my money :)

We had our 1 hour of pool time each day!
And I thought Texas was HOT!!

My first hydro massage

Other family members arrived and surprised the birthday girl by hiding in a tent!

Then a poolside birthday party

Karaoke and Dancing

So many sights along the strip...

The water light show at the Bellagio

was AMAZING!!

The adventure continued on our road trip home.

This is the Colorado River
just outside of Las Vegas

Then......THE GRAND CANYON!!!

Words can't even express the beauty
and awesomeness..
Standing there I felt like such a tiny drop of a being. God's beauty can be just breathtaking and this is one of them.

I can check this one off my bucket list!

Last stop....
The Painted Desert National Park
in Arizona.

Home sweet Home

These ladies are cousins
who share the last name "Knight".
 A lifetime of memories
to talk about along the way.
Catching up and sharing.
It made the travel time go so quickly.
We sang, laughed and even cried.
We reached a new level.
We have always shared family
but now we share friendship.

Thank you so much for new memories.
